How To Think Intuitively
Friday, December 21, 2007 - Ryan Williams

Thinking without using the subconscious or intuitive mind is called Traditional thinking; something that a lot of us are guilty of including me.

Our unconscious mind was designed as our guide and fountain of information that we can pose any question to and expectantly receive an answer. Some thinkers believe that the unconscious mind is the channel to which we speak to God.

Life becomes much easier when we consult our inner guidance on what action to take because it is not hindered by emotions, only truth. Our subconscious or our intuitive mind is pure thought itself it is static whilst emotion is in motion, so just by pure definition alone intuitive thought cannot have emotion.

Traditional thinking is typically based on fear; for instance, your intuition is telling you to work for yourself but you choose not to listen because of your fear of failure. You have an idea of the product and service you want but your traditional thinking is telling you it’s a harsh market, it’s too risky, I already have a job and a secure income, so you chose not to open your business. Then six months later someone else comes up with the same idea you originally had and made millions. A lot of the time our intuitions may seem illogical or frightening but if we just trust ourselves we will be lead towards our goal.

Through fear we have caused our mind's to split,; that's why we have so much inner conflict. Fear cuts us off from the full picture. By having a split mind we miss the whole of reality and only see through fear goggles. (worst than beer goggles my friend) Listen to just your intuitive mind and it will help you with all matters.

Consider this, have you ever had a difficult time writing an introduction to an email or paper, so you just wrote something generic and kept on writing. As wrote you were no longer concentrating on the intro which gives your mind that gap to communicate the perfect introduction. Boom, it hits you and you go back and write it.

Another example is misplacing something and searching everywhere for it without any luck. Then out of pure frustration, you stopped looking and thinking about it. At that very moment you remember exactly where it was.

The formula for Intuitive thinking is to pose your question to yourself (intuitive mind) by asking a “How” question either directly or writing it down on a piece of paper or in your journal and then wait patiently for an answer to flow to you. For some people it comes in the form of other people,  a “knowing”, visually, or audibly or a combination.

Just ask once and wait for the answer to come. Imagine asking someone a question repeatedly, you will never get an answer from them because you haven’t given them a chance to share it with you.

So, the key here is to be patient, wait for the answers without forming your own answers based out of fear and anxiety; it could take a couple minute, hours or days. I suggest you write them down then forget about it.

The most important part of intuitive thinking is taking action, right action. Have you ever chatted with an excited friend that wanted you to guess how much they paid for their recent purchase and the first thought that came to your mind was “$60” but then you second guessed yourself and said “$100” to find out that what you first thought was right …

You have to learn to trust yourself and listen to you inner guidance, it has the best of intentions for you, it has to, it is you. I mean if you can’t trust yourself, who are you going to trust?

“If I have lost confidence in myself, I have the universe against me.”
