Trusting God to Help You Accomplish Your Goals
Sunday, December 30, 2007 - Ryan Williams

I will continually refer to God as a SHE in all CAPS. We each have our own unique way to connect to God – it’s our way to personalize the unpersonable.

SHE has always been on the dance floor of life waiting for us to join her. Calling out to us to join her in the dance and giving little nudges here and there. Little coincidences that lead us right back to the door step but it’s still our decision to take that first step.

However, we will be dance novices and have a difficult time dancing. We’re going to step on toes and feel and look awkward. But, with continuous persistence and practice, we’ll improve and become masters of the dance floor. Then we can begin to create our own styles and our own dances.

Just imagine HER on that dance floor called life urging us, begging us with assurance that we will be taken care of. But, we refuse to trust and go to HER for training. We argue with what if this and what if that and never get on the dance floor.

Maybe, just maybe by chance we get the courage to take the step onto the dance floor and we meagerly try it out. We fall on our asses a few times, twist our angle and become very embarrassed. So, we give up claiming that there is no point in it all and no progress just setbacks at every turn. How can we expect to learn anything if we don’t put our whole heart into it?

How fun is it to be in a dance studio, knowing deep down that we would love to be a great dancer but instead we sit in the corner watching everyone else dancing and having the fun that we can have? Just remember we were born for this dance floor, so we must dance. Some of us were born with longer and stronger feet, more flexible and even a little more talent but it doesn’t mean we can’t learn how to dance with the same grace or better; just don’t forget who you’re instructor is, SHE knows what SHE is doing!

The first thing we must do is tell her what dance we want to learn and she will put you in the right classes, introduce you to the right people and the right situations so you can become the dancer you want to be. But, she won’t know what to do if we don’t tell her what we want.

Once we’ve chosen a definite dance we want to learn SHE will begin to teach us the basics first which will give us the foundation to handle the dance of our choice. So, don’t expect to be a superstar just yet, it takes time and patience. A bulk of our learning will come from fellow classmates and other dancers of similar styles to get advice from be kind to every dancer no matter what stage they are at because each person will teach us something unique about ourselves, we just have to listen carefully enough.

Starting dancing today, don’t wait for the time to be right because it will never be right. The only thing that is right is what we choose to do.
